We are looking for trail building volunteers to help us complete the Red Loop at Anderson Park on April 11th and 25th. No experience or tools necessary…just a desire to give back and work on trails. I will post up times as the days approach.

I will be out at the park this weekend to remove the sticks and leaves from the green loop and section of red loop that has already been completed. After this is done the trail should be ready to ride. Anyone is welcome to do this type of work at anytime.

The blue loop will be completed when the IMBA Trail Crew visits May 21-24. See http://www.mmba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=89179 for details.

Finally, we are looking for someone to help with the construction of kiosks. Post up, PM, or contact a MidState board member if you can help.

Thank you!

The Mid-State chapter will be holding their spring meeting March 21 at 1:30 at Buffalo Barbecue Wings in Jackson.

The biggest topic that we will be covering is the scheduling of spring trail dates and overall trail maintenance issues.

Please post up or email me [midstate (at) mmba (dot) org] if you can attend. We need a head count to know how many tables to reserve.

We will also be holding a group ride after the meeting. If things dry out, we will be riding at Ella Sharp Park. Otherwise we will likely ride the rail-trail.

As some of you may already know. This year the annual MMBA meeting is falling right into our own backyard. The Lansing Center will play host to this years event.

From the main board:

February 22nd. Mark your calendars folks, the annual meeting/expo is changing its date and its location to the Lansing Center right in downtown Lansing.

Lansing will serve as a more statewide centralized location within nearly an hour of Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, Mount Pleasant, and Flint. The new location will hopefully better represent the MMBA as the statewide organization it is and also offers us a chance to bring in legislators or other government officials in a professional setting.

In addition to the location, The Lansing Center is also right off the freeway with plenty of parking, the space is nearly twice as big, has HEAT, and a bar on site. For vendors there is an easy access loading dock and a much nicer setting.

Stay tuned for other changes including an advocacy round table, silent auction items, and contests.”

Thank you to all of the chapter members and the MMBA ED for coming to the meeting. This was probably one of the most successful meetings we have had in a long time.

There were many new faces and lots of fresh ideas being thrown around. Its nice to see the renewed interest in our chapter. Hopefully, we can run with the momentum that has been created and make 2009 a really good cycling season.

Look for the chapter minutes to be posted as soon as they are forwarded to me.

Another year has gone by…. hard to believe. But that means it’s time for the Heritage Park Holiday Night Ride.

Yep, doing it again this year. Come enjoy the rolling singletrack of Adrian’s Heritage Park Dec 6th @ 5:30pm, parking in the upper lot.

Lights and helmets are required, a good attitude and adult beverage is recommended .

Like before, after-party at the Barley House Pub.
